Vestry Minutes for June 17, 2015
Opened with prayer by Allen at 7:03 p.m.
Attendance: Pastor Allen, Sue Grunkemeyer, Susan George, Fred Johnson, Noreen Panizzoli, Tom Bertino, Russ McDonald, Chris Darnell, Barbara Middlekauff
Minutes: Motion by Sue G. to accept as written accept with the name correction: “Perky” Primrose Approved.
Finance: May was okay! giving was up versus 2104 but down per week accounted for by the extra week in 2014. April was much better. Net worth went down $3,000 which is typical when large quarterly bills are due. Designated funds were up. New designated fund was setup (Women’s Retreat) for seed money for future retreat or activity. Network leaders wife will disburse funds from this account. Rector’s Business Account was overspent; Allen and Russ will examine to determine why.
Online giving is working but hasn’t been made public as wrinkles are ironed out. Dean will be updating a report monthly to the CCB for the counters. Currently, there is no way to designated funds to specific categories. Bishop’s Expense is over budget with his recent visit and a gift to his discretionary fund.
Kudos to Russ for his time in preparing food for the picnic.
Diocesan – Looking for new bishop. Bishop Ames hopes to be retired by next year. Standing Committee is doing a lot of work. Allen is the President of that committee, so it will be taking up some of his time. Looking for senior members from the ACNA for the next bishop. (ACNA is only six years old) There is a July 11 retreat in Toledo for listening and praying for discernment to choose the right man.
New Families/Old Families: Re-founding of the Parish – We’re nearly ten years out from our start. There’s a feeling of a changing of the guard, flux in the congregation and a feeling of hope. “His Church Family Reunion” to be planned during the ten year anniversary.
Youth Sunday School – Art Middlekauff to teach a class on apologetics for older middle and high school students to start in July 5during the Service of the Word.
Trinity Conviviality – We need to encourage Trinity in the ways they minister to the community. We hope to serve in some way during Stevenson High School’s 50th anniversary celebration. Another potential project comes from a state legislator who is focusing on the crime of sex trafficking and a proposal for the Michigan legislature to make criminal emphasis be on pimps and johns.
Discipleship – Thursdays at 6 p.m. at Allen’s.
Old Business: Schedules through the rest of the year are due. Continue reading 1 Corinthians.
New Business: No meeting in July. Pray for Trinity and Stevenson High School
Meeting adjourned at 9:14 p.m.
