Vestry Minutes for December 17, 2014
Opened with prayer by Allen at 7:06 p.m.
Attendance: Pastor Allen, Tom Bixler, Steve Antoniotti, Fred Johnson, Tom Bertino. Susan George, Noreen Panizzoli, Russ McDonald
Minutes: Scratch ‘few’ from last line under Food Pantry. Correction on distribution of $1,000 to Trinity which should have been divided to provide $500 for Trinity and $500 for Madonna. Motion to approve minutes by Susan including above changes. Approved.
Finance: Giving $17,504.$ 3,500 weekly, down but remember it was a five week month. 78 average attendance. Giving up 14.5%. Operating costs down $1,000 but not a concern. Draft budget has been prepared by the Finance Committee. Overview: Balanced budget based on a lower estimate of income, not including any special donations.
We have taken in $197,000 so far this year and assuming $203,000 for next year. Not assuming an increase in giving for 2015. Designated funds for food pantry and Christ’s fund will be used first before monies donated by parish members. Restored half of Allen’s cut. Dean, Allen and Greg will be given a $50 stipend each month for their parish support. Monthly charge of $20 for online giving is in the stewardship account. Formal approval of the budget will be at the January Vestry meeting.
Move by Tom Bixler and seconded by Tom Bertino that we accept the budget and accept Allen’s request to add a line in the budget to support the Vertical ministry. $600 suggested annual contribution. Approved.
Blessings to Share: Pastor Hoey used the money we gifted to Trinity to buy a car for a waitress in need. Greg and Dean were very appreciative of the gift; Lisa and Allen are grateful and blessed by the gift and the reinstitution of part of his pay cut. Thanks to Steve and Tom for joining Russ and Allen this past Sunday to draw up the 2015 budget.
Attendance: Listen and ask God if there’s something else we need to do to bring people in. It’s important to ask if we’re on the wrong track. Idea to provide events we can invite people to.
Pastor Allen’s Report: Work with Bob Hoey has been wonderful; they strengthen each other. Small group project that Allen is pursuing is encouraging. A deeper discipleship nights when community is being built, prayer and seeped in scripture.
- Annual Meeting – Sunday, January 25 after church. One service that day. Publicize in bulletins.
- Vestry Nominations – Send suggestions to Allen
- The Building Fund is stagnant and not producing. Looking for several people to help Allen choose where to invest the funds, possibly in the stock market. Consider stocks that pay a dividend.
Thank you notes were sent to Fan into Flames leadership.
January 4th Party at 5 p.m. at Allen’s.
